Scripture
Read Genesis 3
Observation
Choose one or more of the relevant questions to discuss:
1) Ps Chee shared that the Genesis account doesn’t just give us principles to apply, but provides a lens (a worldview) of how to see and live our family life.
- Do you agree or disagree? Discuss.
- What is this lens?
- What are the different world-views that you have come across on how to see and live our family life? How does that impact people living out God’s ideal for family?
2) How does the Bible describe living life in the middle of God’s unfinished story? (Genesis 3:13-19). What impact does that have in our family relationships?
3) Ps Chee shared that the problem in our family relationships begin not outside of us, but with SIN inside of us. Read Genesis 3:1-12. How does sin cause us to love ourselves more than God and each other?
Application
1) What are some of the brokenness you are currently experiencing in your family relationships?
2) Ps Chee shared that sin deceives us, confuses us, causes us to question God, it rationalises sin, brings excuses instead of repentance, blinds us to our own blindness and ultimately leads to a LOVE for SELF. Can you identify with this within yourself in the way you interact in your family relationships? Give an example.
3) Living life in the middle is one of brokenness and redemption (Gen 3:1-15, 21). Think of a current situation of brokenness in your family relationships. How can this moment of brokenness become a moment of ministry?
Response
Spend some time alone and reflect on a current situation of brokenness in your family relationships. Ask the Lord two questions regarding your family relationships:
1) Jesus, what do you want to rescue me from?
2) Jesus, how do you want to use me to turn moments of brokenness into moments of ministry?
