Application
Confession is a powerful step forward towards dealing with personal failures and sin (James 5:16). Often the fear of shame causes us to keep our failures/sins hidden, and the labels of shame can hinder us from living. It is important to have a safe space to be able to do this appropriately. Break into groups of 2-3 people that you trust within your life group and discuss:
– Personal failures can raise issues of shame. What are the issues or potential issues of shame in your life or your family life?
– How have you tried to deal with it?
– Moses shared that ‘shame can be the starting point on the path to salvation’. In what ways can this be a reality in your dealings with issues of shame?

Response
In your small group:
– Bring your issues of shame before the Lord in repentance.
– Ask the Lord to reveal how the gospel of Jesus frees you from the fear of shame and the label of shame
– Ask the Lord how he wants you to deal with your issue or potential issues of shame
