SOAR DISCUSSION GUIDE

Building A Life Is A Community Project
Ps Kenny

Scripture
Nehemiah 2:17-3:32

Observation
–
What kind of people were involved In the rebuilding of the walls?
– Why do you think the writer of Nehemiah spent a whole chapter listing in detail the names of those involved in the rebuilding work and what they did?
– Ps Kenny shared that rebuilding the walls can represent the rebuilding of our lives and church. In what ways is rebuilding our lives in Christ a community project? Give personal examples of how that is true in your life.

Application
Ps Kenny shared that in order to build our lives as the church together we need to live in light of three truths:
1. Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25-27)
2. Christ builds the church (Matthew 16:15-18)
3. Christ vision for the church (Romans 12:9-21)

Choose one or more of the following questions:
– Ps Kenny made a statement – “You cannot love Jesus and not love the church. It’s unscriptural and unbiblical.”  Do you love  Clayton church? Why is this important in order to build together? Discuss.
– Christ builds the church by using His Word and His people (Col 3:16). Do you have anyone (it can be more than one) that you invite in your life that can speak openly about your walk with the Lord, relationship, finance, marriage, parenting, character issues etc.? If not, would you consider praying for someone.
– Romans 12:9-21 gives us a picture of the kind of people God wants to become. List the qualities and reflect on your own personal character and life. Ask the Lord two questions 1) what areas do You want to work on? 2) how can I obey this scripture this week?
