DISCUSSION GUIDE
Aligning Inconsistencies
Ps Chee Fah
Scripture
Read Nehemiah 5-6
Observation
– In what way was God’s people living inconsistent with God’s laws? (cf. Exodus 22:25, Leviticus 25:35-40, Deuteronomy 23:19-20)
– Was Nehemiah himself guilty of living inconsistently to God’s laws? (Neh. 5:10)
– How did they take responsibility of their inconsistency?
– How did the fear of God empower Nehemiah to live a life of integrity in the three situations presented in these passages (5:1-13, 14-19, 6:8-14)
Application
- Ps Chee shared that one of the biggest challenge to the mission of God is the lack of integrity of Christians.
– Can you give examples of how we as Christians can go about the work of God and not follow the laws of God?
– Spend time asking the Lord to reveal an area of inconsistency in your life. What does taking responsibility look like? How does the cross empower you to align your inconsistency ?
Share with one another
- Ps Chee shared to walk in the fear of God means to live knowing three things: my life is accountable to God, my life belongs to God and my life is about honouring God first.
– Are you walking in the fear of God?
– What does it look like for you to walk in the fear of God?
Response
– Ask the lord to reveal a non Christian friend who is open to the gospel
– Commit this week to ask them two questions: 1) What is the biggest obstacle for you to believe in Jesus? 2) Is there something in the way I live that makes it difficult for people to believe in Jesus?
This week: Spend time reading Nehemiah 7-12:26. Please encourage all your members to come this Sunday as we will launch a resource tool that will benefit the members of our church greatly.
