Building Our Lives With Joy 
Ps Chee

Scripture
Read Philippians 1:1-11

Observation
1. Break into four different groups and allocate each group a specific Bible translation – NIV, NLT, The Message and the Amplified Bible. Read the passage in that translation and answer the following questions:
– what insights can you make about this passage?
– what insights can you make about joy?
– what questions does this passage raise? Discuss with one another.

2. Gather together as a life group and share your insights with one another from the translation that you have read.

Application
Ps Chee share three insights about Paul that helps us build our lives with joy:
1. His centre – the joy of bringing joy to Jesus
2. His confidence – the joy of knowing God will complete what He started
3. His love – the joy of growing in self-sacrificial love

Choose one or more of the following questions:
– Many people live their lives on a happiness quest. Reflect on your life. Is that true? Give examples.
– What are some things in your life that rob your joy? Provide examples.
– Ps Chee shared that the reason we don’t find joy is because we are not bondslaves to Jesus Christ. Discuss.
– Ps Chee shared that instead of being bondslaves to Jesus, we are often 1) believers but bondslaves to other things or 2) bondslaves to an unbiblical Jesus. Which category do you fall under? Why? How does this impact your joy?
