SOAR DISCUSSION GUIDE

An Invitation To Adventurous Faith
Ps Barry

Scripture
Read 1 Thessalonians 3:1-10

Observation
Choose one or more of the following questions:
– What was the primary concern of Paul for the church at Thessalonica? Why was that his primary concern?
– What insights can you make about their faith?
– What were some of the temptations God’s people at Thessalonica faced (vs 5)?
– What was lacking in their faith that the apostles wanted to complete (vs 10)?
– What insights can you make about the impact of their faith on Paul? How does the faith of your life group members impact and concern you?

Application
Ps Barry challenged us to have a look at our faith and go on the journey of growth and progress in our faith. He shared three levels of faith:
1. Saving faith
2. Living faith
3. Adventurous faith

Choose one or more of the following questions:
– Reflect on your journey of faith. Where are you in your journey of faith in this season?
– What are some of the obstacles you face in your growth journey of faith?
– What are some of the things you do to grow in your faith?
– Do you feel like you are not being stretched and challenged in your faith? Do you feel frustrated and feel there is meant to be more to your faith than what you are experiencing? How are you dealing with it? How are you moving forward and growing in your faith

Response
“We are dressed like deep sea divers but spend all our time smashing around in bath tubs.” – Peter Marshall. Ps Barry shared how we can discover our faith adventure:
1. Listen to your heart (Psalm 37:4)
2. Test it by prayer and the counsel of trusted godly friends
3. Wait for God’s time

– What is your step of adventure faith?
– What is the next step of adventurous faith for our life group?

Prayer for the church
Please continue to uphold the eldership and the senior pastor search committee to pray for God to help them find the senior pastor of God’s choosing. Pray for wisdom, discernment and guidance.
