SOAR DISCUSSION GUIDE

What Is Your Everything

The Vision series

The Vision

building disciples who represent to Jesus to everyone, everywhere with everything

Introduction

One of the key values in discipleship is hearing and obeying the Word. Therefore, it is important to have accountability to one another for our step of obedience from studying the Word. Spend the first part of your discussion asking – how did your step of obedience go from last time we met?

Scripture

Read Colossians 1:15-20, 3:17, 1 Corinthians 10:31-33

Observation

Ask one or more of the following questions:

– The Scripture describes Jesus as Lord over ALL things. What does it mean for Jesus to be Lord over ALL things?  Do you find that difficult to believe? Why or why not?

– What is the implication on your life if Jesus is Lord over ALL things? How would that impact they way you would live?

– What does it mean that Jesus wants to reconcile all things to himself? How does Jesus do that?

– What does it mean for you to live for the glory of God in whatever you do or say?

Application

Take out your discipleship circle and spend time looking at the list of your everything:

– Is Jesus Lord over your everything? Why/why not?

– What does it mean practically for you to represent Jesus with your everything? Give specific examples based on what you have written as your list of your everything

Response

Ps Chee gave 4 practical suggestions of how we can represent Christ in whatever we say or do:

  1. Motivation – why do you do what you do? Who is this for?
  2. Character – am I portraying Christ like character? Is there an attitude of gratitude in my everything? Character and attitude helps us earn respect and bear witness.
  3. Skill – am I pursuing excellence in what I do? Good skills is how we love people best practically. It also helps build credibility for us to witness.
  4. Name – what is the name people are left with? Do we share and point people to the name of Jesus?

In light of those suggestion, ask Jesus how do you want me to represent you with an area of my everything. Share wiht one another your step of obedience and pray.

This week: Don’t forget this week we return back to 2 Sunday services at 9:00am and 11:15am. We will be starting a new series called ‘The Man Who Changed The World’ (https://test.claytonchurch.org.au/project/the-man-who-changed-the-world/). This  will be relevant for your preChrsitian friends and family. So invite them to be challenged by the Word of God this week.
