Vision

To build disciples who represents Jesus to everyone, everywhere with everything

A

Introduction

One of the key values in discipleship is hearing and obeying the Word. Therefore, it is important to have accountability to one another for our step of obedience from studying the Word. Spend the first part of your discussion asking – how did your step of obedience go from last time we met?

Scripture

Read:

  • Hebrews 11 (key verses 1, 6, 13)
  • Luke 1: 26-38
U

Observation

  • What do these passages tell us about faith in God?
  • What did you like about this passage?
  • What did you not like about this passage?
  • Is there a situation in your life now that you think this passage relates to?

Application

Wei shared one key point of how to be a mother (or person) who pleases God.
“Confront your reality but respond with humble faith. “

Choose one or more of the following questions to discuss:

  • Reflect on your life. Is there a situation in your life that seems opposite to what God says? Share an example.
  • Reflect on the statement “Confront your reality but respond with humble faith.” How do you resolve the tension of faith versus reality?  What are some of the challenges or confusion that might arise with this statement?
  • How would you advise someone on what to do if they have a situation in their life where their reality is contradicting the word of God to them? (This is another way of asking the question of tension between faith and reality) Give a scenario or use one of the examples previously shared in the group and workshop how you would advise them.
  • What are some of the barriers to faith? Share a personal experience where you struggled to have faith and if there was a resolution, what were the things that helped?

Response

  1. Is there a reality in your life that God wants you to confront?
  2. What will you do to respond in faith?

Next Week

We will begin a new series called ‘Jesus and Money’. Come prepared to hear how we can represent Jesus with our money.
