SOAR DISCUSSION GUIDE

The Plans of Life

Senior Pastor Chee-Seng FAH, Sunday 7th May

Vision

To build disciples who represents Jesus to everyone, everywhere with everything

A

Introduction

One of the key values in discipleship is hearing and obeying the Word. Therefore, it is important to have accountability to one another for our step of obedience from studying the Word. Spend the first part of your discussion asking – how did your step of obedience go from last time we met?

Scripture

Read:

  • Ecclesiastes 12:8 – 14
  • James 4:13 – 16
U

Observation

  • What do these passages tell us about God?
  • What do these passages tell us about you and your life?
  • What did you like about this passage?
  • What did you not like about this passage?

Application

Ps Chee shared four things in life that can make our plans ‘level’:

  1. The interruptions of life (Ecclesiastes 10:8 – 9 NLT)
  2. The timing of life (Ecclesiastes 9:11 – 12 NLT)
  3. The complexity of life (Ecclesiastes 7:23 – 25 NLT)
  4. The allure of sin in life (Ecclesiastes 7:26 – 29 NLT)

Choose one or more of the following questions to discuss:

  • Reflect on your life. In what ways can you identify with how those four things in life have messed up the plans in your life? Give examples.
  • Reflect on some of your unfulfilled plans that have caused frustration. In what ways is the need for control or the ‘arrogance of self’ the underlying cause of your frustration?
  • How does fearing God and obeying His commands clear the ‘hevel’ of life?

Response

  1. Is there a truth that God wants you to obey?
  2. What will you do to obey this? I will…

Next Week

We will be celebrating Mother’s day with one combined service at 10 am.

Invite your friends and family to celebrate together and hear the Word of God.
